5 Stocks To Watch: July 27, 2020

July 27, 2020: One of the big movers last Friday was Boston Beer Company, Inc. (THE). The stock jumped $658.07 to $828.34, up 25.7-percent after a better than estimated second-quarter report. It didn’t make our stocks to watch list last week but is definitely on our radar now.

Early winners today are Gold and Silver as value continues to climb. Gold rose 1.6-percent to a record high of $1,943 per ounce. While Silver rose 5.5-percent to $24.24.

A surprise loser last week was the Intel Corporation (INTC). Who dropped from $60.49 to $50.59 on Friday despite announcing better-than-expected second-quarter results. Several analysts downgraded INTC after the company announced its 7-nanometer chip would be delayed.

This dip also puts INTC on our radar but it doesn’t make today’s top five stocks to watch:

Moderna, Inc. (MRNA) – $73.21

On Sunday Moderna, Inc. (MRNA) shares rose 1.1-percent in after-hours trading as it announced it received $472-million in government funding. The money is to support the late-stage development of its coronavirus vaccine. A stage 3 trial consisting of 30,000 American participants is expected to begin today and any further announcements will likely make MRNA one of the stocks to watch going forwards.

SAP AG, (SAP) – $158.79

Enterprise global software vendor SAP AG, (SAP) announced on Sunday that it is planning to take Qualtrics public in the United States. SAP AG purchased Qualtrics for $8-billion in 2018 and it is reported that if Qualtrics went public that year it would have raised approximately $4.5 billion at roughly $21 per share. This announcement has made sentiment towards SAP bullish, making it one of the stocks to watch today.

Citizens Holding Company, (CIZN) – $22.17

The Citizens Holding Company, (CIZN) revealed on Friday that their second-quarter earnings per share was down from the same period last year, by $0.02. With revenue being reported today, and the market knowing the EPS is $0.26, it’ll be interesting to see where the market takes the holding company of The Citizens Bank of Philadelphia.

Hasbro, Inc. (HAS) – $77.59

Hasbro, Inc. (HAS) reported their second-quarter earnings today, coming in under analyst estimates. Revenue was $135.27-million under, reporting at $860.28-million. Earnings per share were $0.21 under, reporting at $0.02 per share. Hasbro, Inc. stated that “strong demand was hampered by store closures.”

Brown & Brown, Inc. (BRO) – $45.40

Insurance agent and broker Brown & Brown, Inc. (BRO) will release their second-quarter earnings after the bell today. Analysts estimate Q2 numbers will be much lower than Q1, with revenue estimated to be $571.78-million. Revenue in Q1 was $698-million.
